In order to maintain a naturally glowing skin, this basic at-home facial can be used as often as once a week depending on the skin type you have: dry, combination, or oily skin.
For your home spa therapy, you’ll require some perfumed candles, a cleanser, a tub of warm water (preferably steamy) and a clean towel, exfoliating scrub, oil- and alcohol-free toner, clay-based or cream facial mask, a moisturizer and put on light relaxing soothing music to amuse yourself.
Follow the steps as instructed:
1. The basic requirement for a spa treatment is that you have a calm and quite environment around you, where you can indulge yourself in this relaxing activity without any disturbance. Your full focus should be on pampering yourself, so that you give yourself time for relaxation and rejuvenation. Make the environment more pleasing with the some scented candles and soft music playing in the background. No phone calls, no neighbours knocking on the door, no cable guy asking for the monthly bill payment or a toddler who wants to be fed right away.
2. Start out with washing your face for the purpose for removing any left behind make-up or dirt. Those of you who have an oily skin type or even a combination skin type, use a gentle cleanser, but ensure that it is specifically meant for your skin types. For dry skin, a creamy or milky cleanser is idyllic. Take some cleanser onto your finger tips and gradually massage in slow circular movements. After approximately 7-10 minutes, rinse it away with cold water.
3. With your fingers, rub a gentle exfoliating scrub in a circular motion on your face. Concentrate on the areas around your nose and forehead. For combination skin, focus on the areas that tend to be more greasy. Rinse your face well with cool water.
4. Next, give your self a steam treatment, as it helps in opening the pores and getting a deep cleaning done. An easy way to do that is why soaking a clean towel in warm water and hold onto your face. Repeat the process 2-3 times. If you want to try a more professional spa treatment, heat some water in a small cooker it. Then, place a towel over your head to trap the steam and slightly lean over the cooker. This allows the steam to enter your pores. Add a few drops of some essential oils in the water to give yourself an enhanced soothing sensation.
5. Done with that, move onto using a toner. A toner is perfect ingredient for eliminating extra oil and dirt particles from your pores. Always prefer to use a gentle-on-skin, oil- and alcohol-free toner.
6. In case of oily skin, use a clay-based face mask. Usually, what works best for dry skin is a hydrating gel or cream mask. When applying the mask, move your fingertips in anticlockwise motion against your skin, keeping away from the regions around the eyes. Let it stay for 10-20 minutes, then remove the mask by gently rubbing a warm washcloth on your face.
7. To close those opened pores, use an ice cube. After that apply good moisturizer to your face and neck, in smooth upward strokes. Avoid using moisturizers which contain retinols or acids, as they tend to over exfoliate your skin, resulting in a reaction.
8. Again apply a cleanser with gentle upward motions. In doing so, Don’t go hard on yourself for removing deeply rooted debris, as it can result in scars or even infection.
9. Here’s another tip, when using brand-new cleansing products for the first time, test a little area first, in order to save yourself from any serious reactions later. If you feel itchiness, burning or discomfort of any sort, immediately remove the product from your face. Remember to use products according to your skin type.
10. After this nice refreshing session, celebrate the moment as you just got your youth back.
Takecare.
