What your Skin needs – the 4 basic rules for a healthier skin

Having a beautiful skin is every heart’s desire. Yet, how to gratify your skin needs is where one becomes careless. Not any more you would! The following basic skin care rules will give you an insight on how to take care of your skin. From the right way to wash your face to using the best skin care products and protection against UV lethal effects, these skincare rules will help you show you the path to attaining a glowing healthy, and baby soft skin.

Before you gear up for your skincare routine, remember to identify your skin type first. Since, every skin type has different needs, thus how to take care of your skin directly depends on the type of skin you have: oily, normal, combination, dry, or sensitive.

1- Cleansing

The first rule to getting a fresher and healthier looking skin is cleansing. Cleansing helps in removing dirt, oil, bacteria and dead skin. Without cleansing, your skin will develop a build-up of materials which will result in loss of natural skin radiance, making it look dull and uneven. Acne and other bacterial infections also occur due to lack of proper care and attention.

Remember to use cleansing products which match your skin type and needs. Keep away from soaps as they tend to take up the necessary moisture your skin needs. Cleansing is a must, especially for those with an oily skin type. Mostly cleansers contain oil, water and “surfactants.” The oil in the cleansers suspends excessive oil from your face and surfactants remove dirt and makeup residues. Thus, always decide on the products which fulfill your skin type needs accurately.

Mind you, do not cleanse your skin too frequently. Some skincare experts suggest that skin should be cleansed using creamy cleansers. Simply apply them onto your face and wipe it off with a tissue or cotton swab, without using the water at all. However, the easiest method is the water method, as we call it. A splash of lukewarm water is all the help you need, as it easily removes excess oils from your daily night-moisturizing. To avoid damaging your skin, do not wash your face with hot or cold water.

Here is what we would suggest:

Splash lukewarm water onto your face in order to remove dirt and debris. Apply a little quantity of cleanser and then wash away with cool or lukewarm water.

2- Toning

Facial toning does magic to the skin. It gives your skin the healthy glow and vital uplift, consequently reducing early aging signs. It eliminates hints of dirt and debris left behind after cleansing. It also restores the skin’s natural pH balance.

Toning helps in tightening up the pores hence reducing the risks of infection and acne. A good toner can tone up the skin and make it appear younger, healthier and smoother.

3- Exfoliate

Most of the people fail to understand the importance of exfoliation and thus skip it in their skincare routine. Wrong move! We would suggest that exfoliation should never be missed as it top layer of skin which contains dead cells, dirt debris and other build-up materials which make the skin uneven and dull. It thoroughly cleanses the skin, leaving an immediate effect in rejuvenating your skin. Fashion experts believe that one of the very reasons why men’s skin looks more fresh and youthful compared to women’s is because men tend to exfoliate daily when they shave.

For exfoliating, scrubs work best. Always choose a gentle scrub with tiny granules, since big granules can scratch the skin and instead harm than doing any good to the skin.

4- Moisturize

Why should one use moisturizers? Moisturizers retain the essential moisture necessary for a healthy skin. Now comes the question, how much should you moisturize? That’s easy to tell. When your skin gives you a tight and dry feeling, it’s signifies an urgent moisturizing treatment. Bear in mind, when we say moisturize, we mean ‘moisturize’, not to ‘over-moisturize’. Over-moisturizing clogs the pores.

Moisturizers hydrate the skin properly and prevent it from necessary moisture loss. Also, they facilitate the skin with a protective barrier entrap the essential moisture from escaping the skin. Water and various skin care products take up moisture from the skin. Moisturizing lotions compensates for the moisture loss. It is imperative for those with dry skin, who have less sebum (skin’s natural oil) in their skin.

Face masks also give a moisturizing effect. Moisturizing face masks are excellent for people with dry skin. Dry and sensitive skin requires extra moisture and attention.

Keep in mind, these four basic rules, tips, guidelines or however you want to put it, are the most vital practices for a youthful and radiant skin. As a basic law of beauty, remember no matter whatever skin type you have, moisturizing is a necessity. That means even if your skin type is oily, who says moisturizers wouldn’t benefit you? But, even if your skin is oily, it will still benefit you much.

Happy Glowing!!
